Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren & the Resurgence of Boxing

This past weekend Jake Paul defeated Ben Askren in a Boxing Match. Jake Paul is a famous Youtuber who started pursuing his Boxing career early this year with a now 3–0 start. His opponent, UFC Fighter Ben Askren, took a hard right hook early in the first round. The match was stopped and Jake left victorious. Now, it’s very safe to call Jake the ‘villain’ here due to his very little background in fighting and only having fought other Youtubers and now one MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)fighter. The rules of Boxing and MMA are extremely different, so if this fight occurred in an octagon instead of a ring, the result would have been very different.

My opinion on Jake Paul: I hate him… But he is good for the sport. Views and Paper View buys for Boxing events have declined in recent years. Jake Paul Fighting has sold millions of Paper view buys, generating large amounts for the industry. A major reason is due to younger generations being interested in the sport. A lot of young children follow Jake Paul on Youtube, so seeing him fight generates a ton of media.

I don’t know how this story is going to end but I hope on not in Jake Paul’s corner going forward.
